The Electric Power Enterprise Control System (EPECS) simulation software simulates the techno-economic behavior of an electric power system, with its associated electric power enterprise markets. It specifically includes all types of conventional dispatchable resources as well as variable renewable energy, energy stor- age, and demand side resources. It explicitly addresses the intermittency of renewable resources (i.e. lack of dispatchability) as well as the uncertainty (i.e. forecast errors) of the power grid’s distributed net load and quantifies many types of operating reserves/ancillary services accordingly. The enterprise market behavior includes a security-constrained unit commitment (SCUC), a real-time unit commitment (RTUC), a security- constrained economic dispatch (SCED), regulation service and a physical model of the electric power grid (AC/DC Power Flow Analysis).

The EPECS simulation software is a stand-alone commercial product offered on the Linux operating system. It interfaces with the General Algebraic Modeling System (GAMS) software. The EPECS software comes packaged with the MATLAB (2022a) runtime environment to support its execution. No MATLAB development environment (or license) is required to run the EPECS simulation software.

In addition to the simulation software, we offer the EPECS visualization software. It is run directly within the MATLAB (2022a) environment. Consequently, it can operate on Windows, Linux and Mac OS. The visualization software draws on the outputs of the simulation software to produce insightful plots for stakeholders and analysts alike.
